This stuffing free, medium-large sized, rabbit fur dog toy will make your pup go wild!!
Measurements: 8” long X 4” wide. It has a strange shape to keep things interesting.
You have the choice to have 2 squeakers or none with no extra cost. Squeaker will be on each end and sewn apart. If you choose to have squeakers I will sew them in after you order them.
This toy is hand stitched with cotton thread.
You will receive the exact toy in these pictures. (I just have to finish it when you buy it with squeakers or not)
The fur is traditionally tanned by me! The rabbits are from a local homestead here in New Hampshire called “The Honey Bunny Homestead” in Lisbon NH. The rabbits are super fluffy and treated wonderfully, I visited the homestead, patted them hung out with them. They are loved and beautiful. They are rex meat rabbits.
The method of traditional tanning I use is called “brain tan” or “smoke tan” I use egg yolks as a dressing to soften the skin, (the egg has same fats as brain) then I stretch it until its dried and smoke it on my home built smoker in my backyard. The smoking makes sure that the fur will not turn into a rawhide when it is wet. I then cut the furs and hand stitch them together to make beautiful one of a kind, irresistible dog toy.
Since this fur is smoke tanned it may have a smoky smell to it. I try my best to air it out but just want to let you know in the package it might smell stronger. Me and my husband like the smell. It is a campfire smell.

Rabbit fur toys are fairly durable. They do not shed or stink while they play (unless your dog wants to pull the fur out). The fur will get wet and look gross while they play, but once it dries it will remain fluffy. There is fur all around them. You may see some skin or stitching on some edges of the toy.
Always keep an eye on your pup while playing with it! These toys will bring out the wild side of your dog.
I have given my two dogs these toys and they love them. My dog enjoys licking it, squeaking it, playing fetch and even cuddling it. He is gentle with it but he is gentle with all his toys. Take note of how your dog is with toys. Some dogs may try to eat the fur, or try to rip the squeaker out if you get it with the squeaker. If they do that you can use the toy as a training device and limit their time with it. If they rip the squeaker out they will probably still love this toy, just discard the squeaker and keep it because the fur makes it hard to feel the hole in the toy.
This is a toy and not food (although it is food grade), please don’t let them eat it!! It is basically a soft rawhide and we all know not to let our dogs ingest it. As we also do not let our dogs ingest other plush toys!
The pictures with the dog in it is my dog and the toys I made for him! The toys in the pictures are 8 months old and in great shape still with lots of play time including very gentle tugging.
The rabbit toy may have a smoky smell first out of the package but fade away when aired out. It is because it is a smoke tanned fur which is much more natural and safe than commercial tanned.
When I package the toy I may gently fold it so it can fit in the smallest shipping box for lowest price. Just shake it and bend it the opposite direction when you take it out of the package and it should bounce back to place.
